Cambridge Cognition Partners with The Cure Parkinson’s Trust

Cambridge Cognition has chosen The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) as beneficiary Charity of the Year for 2017.

Cambridge Cognition has partnered with The Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT) to be beneficiary Charity of the Year 2017. We will be organising a series of fundraising activities over the course of the next year.

All funds raised during 2017 will support the research work of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust. This includes a treatment development programme (Linked Clinical Trials) and a grant award scheme to identify and fund science excellence.

Dr Jenny Barnett, Director of Science, said: ‘After a very successful year of fundraising in 2016 we have decided to raise money in support of The Cure Parkinson’s Trust for 2017. The Cure Parkinson’s Trust funds research with the aim to cure Parkinson’s – funding for research is vital to finding a cure, which is why we want to help. We hope our fundraising efforts will help towards finding that cure and we look forward to working with CPT throughout the year and beyond.’

‘We are delighted to have been chosen to be the beneficiary charity for Cambridge Cognition in 2017.’ said Helen Matthews, Chief Operating Officer at The Cure Parkinson’s Trust. ‘We are also looking forward to finding out more about the important research work Cambridge Cognition are undertaking in Parkinson’s and how we can integrate their developments into our work .’

Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological condition that is characterised by tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement and balance problems. Many people living with Parkinson’s are also significantly affected by a wide range of non-motor symptoms that can include sleep disorders, cognitive changes and difficulties with speech. Parkinson’s disease has been a primary focus for Cambridge Cognition and our work includes neuropsychological tests for detecting the cognitive changes in Parkinson’s disease.

The Cure Parkinson’s Trust is dedicated to developing new treatments to slow, stop and reverse the disease for the 127,000 people living with Parkinson’s in the UK and the 10 million affected worldwide. They fund innovative projects and inspirational scientists and is dedicated to specifically driving towards treatments that can slow, stop or reverse Parkinson’s within five years.
