Attention & Psychomotor Speed

The cognitive domain of attention covers our ability to selectively attend to specific information whilst ignore irrelevant information.

We can also measure the sub-domain of sustained attention, to look at continuous performance and visual sustained attention.

Psychomotor abilities relate to the relationship between cognitive functions and physical movements.

We can calculate the psychomotor speed by looking at an individual’s ability to detect and respond to rapid changes in the environment, such as the presence of a stimulus. With this we can assess reaction time, movement time and vigilance.
