Enhanced Services for dementia 2014/15: the key facts
The NHS has announced new enhanced services for the timely diagnosis and support for people with dementia. This enhanced service is designed to reward GP practices for undertaking a proactive approach to the timely assessment of patients who may be at risk of dementia.

The importance of timely dementia diagnosis
Timely diagnosis of dementia-related diseases, following the onset of symptoms, is a Department of Health priority. Dementia has a huge impact on people living with the condition, their families and carers, and costs the healthcare system an estimated £19 billion a year, more than the costs of cancer, heart disease and stroke.
